We then changed the emphasis with our yoga classes.

We talked about the importance of being present in your yoga practice. If you place your attention on the present moment you will experience a greater sense of peace. Being in the moment and at ease with whatever comes your way also brings contentment.

I regularly talk about finding that space and sanctuary for yourself on the mat and this provides exactly that. A time for you to pause, be truly present and reconnect with your breath and yourself, whether that be yoga or Pilates.

So I invite you to soak up every moment off the mat too. One of the most loving gifts you can offer to someone is your presence. Being fully present in your time, your words, your responses and emotion.

We also took our asana (poses) practice away from the floor with standing poses like Warriors, Tree and Chair, rising up strong and requiring our mind to connect with our breathing as we felt our strength, power and balance.
